- Things To Do
Located in the Tarragona province in the Catalonia region of Spain, Salou is one of the main resorts on the beautiful and much-preferred coast of Costa Dorado.
Many flock each year to Costa Dorada, is it commonly called the Golden Coast. Salou is without a doubt one of the key places to be on this part of the coast. The white sandy beaches carry on for miles, and it is ideally close to many other attractions such as Port Aventura Adventure Park, which is one of the biggest of its kind in Europe, perfect if you like a little adrenaline rush.
The main activity in Salou is around the Passeig Jaume I, it is a long boulevard that stretched along the edge of the main beach.
Salou is not what you would call a luxury holiday retreat. It is a budget vacation place with lots of cheap restaurants and drinking holes around, ideal for backpackers and families with younger children alike. The choice of beaches is plentiful, with thirty four blue flagged beaches to choose from, some with long strips of golden sand, and others with secluded coves.
Party or Not
Nightlife in and around Salou is dazzling, thanks to the plenty of bars and clubs. You can enjoy happy hour when it suits and then delve into some busy nightclub to finish of your evening. If you’re not too keen on the hustle and bustle of the town, opt for something less crowded and more local, you won’t have to look far for it.
Like many other Mediterranean towns Salou has a rich cultural history that will keep you interested for hours. It may not be as strong a cultural heritage as the neighbouring towns of Tarragona, but with the modern buildings and the Santa Maria Del Mar Church that was built in 1766 will certainly keep you and your camera on your toes for hours.
There are many of opportunities for water sports, crazy golf, Go karting or tennis. Honestly, everything you need is at hand at this lively resort, you will want to return to Salou again and again, it really does have something for everyone.
