Luxury Desert Experience with Dinner
1. Start your Dubai Desert Tour by getting picked up from your hotel
My tour started with a pick-up from my Dubai hotel. We then headed out to the desert. As we whizzed past Dubai and towards the desert, I was excited to see what’s in store for me. After reaching the desert, we hopped into the open-roof vintage land rover which is considered a vintage mode of transportation as this was extensively used in the 1950s expedition. As we made our way through the desert, the guide entertained us with stories of Dubai’s past and present. He also helped us understand the many customs and traditions that we were about to experience.
2. Explore the indigenous bird-life of Dubai
We then travelled through the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, where we enjoyed some wildlife like the Arabian gazelles and oryx, after which, we chanced upon seeing UAEs national bird - the falcon. Now that was something I was looking forward to. We then made our way back to our Land Rovers to travel to the Bedouin-inspired camp for a private royal retreat. As we reached the venue, I was really impressed by the gently flickering flames of the lights that marked the entranceway. We then took a seat at a shared table and waited for our meals to arrive.
3. Spend your evening enjoying fun games followed by traditional Emirati dinner
Now before the meals were served, we enjoyed a range of cultural activities that were demonstrated around the table. What followed was an Arabic coffee, live bread making, henna artists and camel rides! At dinner time, we were seated in an authentic goat hair tents on low Bedouin tables. The food had many traditional Emirati specialties which played with beautiful flavours of Middle East and Asia. Later, we enjoyed some shisha and watched some cultural dance.
After spending some time under the stars, we then made our way back to the camp entrance in a Land Rover. Later, we boarded an air-conditioned van to the hotel back in the city.
