Dubai is an all-round destination loaded with deserts, booming with businesses, and having a buzzing cultural spectrum. Tall skyscrapers, flawless architecture, and the cultural diversity the city offers remains unmatched and forms a prominent part of the local arena. When I recently visited the city, I wanted to explore it all- from the food and art ecosystem to the fascinating landmarks and thriving culture. Unfortunately, I just had one day to do it all. While I was exploring on ways to do everything I could in such short span of time, the Dubai Combo tour with helicopter flight and desert camp experience seemed like the best option which would cover major attractions and let me take in the city’s vibe perfectly.
It was a one-day tour which costed me about USD 212.86 per person. The tour cost included the following:
- Helicopter Tour
- Hotel pick-up and drop-off for the desert camp experience
- Camel Ride
- Henna Tattoo
- Shisha pipa
- BBQ Dinner
- Belly Dancing Show
My tour was to start at the Atlantis at Palm Jumeirah Dubai's palm tree-shaped archipelago where I reached around 9 in the morning and checked-in. I was given a quick safety briefing and then we headed towards our helicopter. The city’s landmarks and buzzing cultural landscape left me awe-inspired and here’s how:
1. It started with a thrilling helicopter ride over the city’s skyline
After reaching the Atlantis and checking-in, I followed the pilot and took my seat in the helicopter. It took off and I was filled with excitement and nervousness at the same time. Reaching the sky, I could gaze through the sea and the city’s sky-high buildings which make Dubai what is it. The sight of the city from above there cannot be described in words and was something I will always cherish.
2. The views of the city’s landmarks from up there were unmatched
I had always seen my friends in Dubai post numerous pictures of the Burj Khalifa and now I understand what the hype is all about. The pilot pointed towards the landmark and I could glance over one of the tallest man-made buildings in the world- Burj Khalifa and not just that, the sights of sail-shaped Burj Al-Arab hotel and sandy beaches left me awe-inspired. Soaring around Dubai’s most ambitious property projects, The World was an experience I am bound to remember forever.
We landed at the Palm Jumeirah and I went back to my hotel.
3. Riding through the endless deserts on a 4x4 vehicle was an incredible experience
I was picked up around 4 by a 4x4 vehicle from my hotel and was taken deep into Dubai’s vast desert. Undulating dunes, desert canyons and barren desert landscape throughout my desert safari kept me intrigued and excited throughout the ride.
4. Exploring the outdoor activities on a beautiful deserted land
The desert safari ride ended with us reaching the Bedouin-inspired camp where an evening of traditional and cultural Emirati activities left us all thrilled. I took a camel ride around the camp and got a henna tattoo painted on my hands. People who accompanied me also enjoyed having shisha. All of these activities brought us closer to the city and its local culture. An experience that’ll always remain fresh to me!
5. It ended with mouth-watering Barbeque and happy faces enjoying the Belly Dance Show
After enjoying the numerous outdoor activities, we helped ourselves with the finger-licking barbeque and as the sun set over the dunes, watched the talented belly dancers dressed in colorful costumes perform with utmost skill and enthusiasm. The day ended with happy faces grooving to the tunes of Emirati music and enjoying the delicious food.
I was then dropped off to my hotel in the same 4x4 vehicle. This tour helped me explore the essence of the city within just a day. I saw historical landmarks, connected with the locals, explored the deserted lands and soaked in the serenity of traditional culture. When it comes to exploring this buzzing city, there is no better way than taking this one-day tour. I am sure the city will leave you in awe just like it left me.
