Harbin Ice & Snow Sculpture Festival:
Where: Harbin, China
When: January 5th to February 25th
Experience the world’s largest ice festival in the city of Harbin. A 2 month long event, you will find everything made of ice and snow over here- from slides to palaces and castles to magnificent sculptures.
Carnevale Di Venezia:
When: January 23rd to February 9th
Unapologetically classy and upscale, the Carnevale Di Venezia (Venice Carnival) is one of the most elite parties in the world. The festivities start ten days before Ash Wednesday and the Carnival Balls are the highlight of the event. Dress up in your finest 18th century costumes, wear your mysterious masks and head over to one such ball or just wander around the historic canals and alleyways of Venice while decked up in all your finery.
Jaisalmer Desert Festival:
When: February 20th to 22nd
Organized by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, the Jaisalmer Desert Festival is a vibrant and vivid mix of culture and entertainment. Events at the festival include turban tying, camel racing, folk dances, longest moustache competition and Mr. Desert competition to name a few!

When: February 5th to 10th

Bringing the biggest names in the music industry to the shores of Australia, Byron Bay Bluesfest is considered to be the best music festival in the world. The 2016 performances line-up includes names such as Kendrick Lamar, Steve Smyth, Lucky Peterson, Allen Stone, The Decemberists, Kaleo, Blackberry Smoke, eMDee and Richard Clapton to name a few.
St. Patrick’s Day:
When: March 17th to 20th
A marvellous and joyous government sponsored four-day festival, the St. Patrick’s Day is where Guinness fuelled revellers boast about their Irish descent. The festival was initially promoted as a stage to portray the talents and achievements of Irish people. But now it has it all- pompous parades, awesome street performances and green-clad crowds enjoying the celebrations.
Beltane Fire Festival:
When: April 30th
The Beltane Fire Festival is conducted to celebrate the beginning of the summer season. A unique celebration, this one draws inspiration from ancient Gaelic traditions. At the heart of this pagan festival are astounding fire stunts and elemental dancing.

When: April 15th to 17th and April 22nd to 24th
A larger than life music and arts festival, Coachella is the place to be if you love foot tapping songs and want to bump into your favourite celebrity! The 2016 line-up will probably be announced in the first week of January; keep your eyes peeled.
Cinco De Mayo:
Where: Puebla, Mexico
When: May 5th
A culinary treat to the senses, the Cinco De Mayo is a spectacle of military parades and art displays. May 5th is the date observed to commemorate the Mexican army's victory over French forces.
Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling:
Where: Cooper's Hill In Gloucestershire
When: May 30th
A completely wacky event to attend, and crazier to participate in, the Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling is a very entertaining and competitive sport. The event witnesses a determined gathering of people who chase a wheel of cheese down a 295 foot hill!

The Donauinselfest is one of the biggest music festivals on the planet. We are not kidding! With over 2,000 artists, approximately 3 million visitors every year and over 600 hours of entertainment, the fest is held on an island in the middle of the Danube River in Vienna.
Where: Seinajoki, Finland
When: June 30th to July 2nd
Which city hosts the best summer rock festival? The answer is simple, Seinajoki in Finland! If you are a heavy metal and rock fan, you know where to head over to.
World Bodypainting Festival:
Where: Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Austria
When: July 1st to 3rd
An open air multicultural and multimedia event, the World Bodypainting Festival is where the weird and the wonderful merge. Honouring and celebrating artists, the festival has competitions in categories such as bodypainting, airbrushing, photography, make-up and special effects. As a visitor, while you can witness the beautiful and intricate art forms, you can also enjoy the live music and shop at the many stalls put up at the event.

Because you are never geeky enough or nerdy enough to attend the Comic Con in your favourite comic/ movie/ book character’s costume! I think I’ll be going as Loki!

The mother of all music festivals, Tomorrowland is the epicentre of electronic music.

When: August 5th to 21st

The Esala Perahera celebrated in Kandy is one of the oldest and grandest Buddhist festivals in Sri Lanka. It features lavishly decorated elephants, dancers, fire breathers, acrobats, jugglers and musicians. It is celebrated in the month that is believed to commemorate the first teaching given by the Buddha after his enlightenment.

A giant food fight! The La Tomatina involves over 130,000 kilos of juicy tomatoes and a crowd of around 30,000 people getting down and dirty in those tomatoes.

A quintessential arts festival, the entire desert comes alive during the Burning Man festival. A celebration of artistic self-expression, the festival witnesses a gathering of about 60,000 people every year.

The world’s largest fair, Oktoberfest needs no introduction! If you love beer, if you love partying and if you love food, head over to Munich in September and have a time of your life.
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta:
Where: Albuquerque, New Mexico
When: October 1st to 9th
A fascinating sight to behold, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is a world-renowned event. Beautiful and colourful balloons put up a magical show on the crisp blue canvas of the sky.
Loy Krathong (Yee Peng):

Where: Chiang Mai, Thailand
When: November 15th
An annual festival, Loy Krathong is celebrated throughout Thailand in honour of Buddha. In northern Thailand, this festival coincides with the Lanna festival of Yi Peng or (Yee Peng). The highlight of the festival is when thousands of people release khom loi (lit lanterns) into the night sky.
Budapest Christmas Fair and Market:
When: Last two weeks of December to 1st week of January.
