“Ganapati Bappa Morya!” The kids in my society have already started to shout and are ready to welcome Lord Ganesha (one of the most famous gods among kids). And when it comes to the Mumbai Ganpati, the joy and festivities have no bounds. Ganesh Chaturthi (Lord Ganesha's birthday) is one of the most famous festivals in Maharashtra, no wonder that you see so many Ganesh temples in Maharashtra. There is a long list of Ganpati Mandals in Mumbai where you can experience the incredible devotion and enthusiasm during this 10-day celebration. Take a look at these Ganpati Mandals to visit in Mumbai to soak in the colors of Ganesh festival!

1. Lalbaug Ganpati

The most famous Ganpati Pandal in Mumbai, Lalbaugcha Raja also known as ‘Navsacha Ganpati’- one who fulfills all the wishes. Every year the idol of Lord Ganesha takes different avatars (forms). The decoration of Ganpati Pandal in Mumbai also requires great efforts and when it is about Lalbaug Ganpati, the artists in Mumbai put all their heart into it. This Ganpati pandal in Mumbai was founded in 1934 and since then, it has been the most beloved of all.

2. Ganesh Galli Mumbaicha Raja

Just a few minutes’ walk from Lalbaugcha Raja, you will come across another famous Ganesh puja pandal called Mumbaicha Raja. Raja means King and the huge Ganpati idol of Ganesh Galli Mumbaicha Raja presents Lord Ganesha as the king of the universe. It is considered as the oldest Ganesh Mandal in Mumbai. The Mandal that was formed for the welfare of mill workers in 1928 has also been involved in social activities. Don’t forget to see Ganesh Galli’s charm after visiting the Lalbaug Ganpati.

3. Khetwadi Ganraj (oldest)

Khetwadi Ganraj Mandal is known for the tallest Ganpati in Mumbai (40 feet) that it made in the year 2000. This award-winning Mandal was established in 1959 and people from different corners of Mumbai and India come here to see the spectacular idols of Ganesha they make every year. The entire old settlement of Khetwadi burst into celebration with dance, music, and colors as the Ganesh Utsav arrives. You will also find many Bollywood celebrities enjoying the festivities in Khetwadi.

4. GSB Seva Kings Circle

Famous as the “Gold Ganesh” of Mumbai, the GSB Seva Kings Circle marks the most lavish Ganesha idol and decoration. GSB stands for Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community that belongs to the state of Karnataka. Adorned with 60 kilograms of gold, the GSB Seva Kings Circle is considered the richest Ganpati Mandal in Mumbai. The Ganpati celebration here lasts for 5 days.

5. Andhericha Raja

With the best Ganesh Murti in Mumbai, Andhericha Raja is another famous pandal to celebrate this Ganesh festival. All the festivities and arrangements are done by Azad Nagar Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti which was established in the year 1966. Although the Ganesh idol of Andhericha Raja is not as huge as Lalbaug, the Mandal always come up with a unique theme.

6. Girgaoncha Raja

Girgaoncha Raja is organized by Nikadvari Lane Sarvajanik Ganesh Mandal which is another old Ganesh Mandal in Mumbai. This 85-year old Mandal is the first Ganesh Mandal in Mumbai that began the trend of eco-friendly Ganesh festival. Therefore, the Mandal calls their Ganpati “Raja Paryavarnacha” (king of the environment). The Mandal also has won several awards for this eco-friendly celebration.

7. Bhandarkarcha Raja

Bhandarkarcha Raja, organized by Bhandarkar Road Sarvajanik Seva Samiti, is not only famous for its big Ganpati but also for a big heart. What makes this Mumbai Ganesh Mandal stand out among others is its magnanimity that makes it feed over 20,000 people every day during the 10-day long festival. This Ganpati pandal is also known for the silver ornaments adorning the idol of Ganesha.

8. Nare Park (Parel Cha Raja)

The Ganpati at Nare Park is popularly called Parel Cha Raja. Having one of the most attractive Ganesha idols, the Parel Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal, Nare Park keeps adding something unique to the festive celebrations every year. Last year, they made a beautiful idol of goddess Laxmi with the king-like idol of Ganpati that impressed a large number of devotees.

9. Chinchpoklicha Chintamani

Organized by Chinchpokli Sarvajanik Utsav Mandal, Chinchpoklicha Chintamani always makes to the list of top 10 Ganpati in Mumbai. The best feature of the Mandal is its “Agaman Sohla” (the arrival of god) where lakhs of devotees dance on the feat of drums and music. You can also get a Ganesha print t-shirt and be a part of the huge rally.

10. Dongricha Raja

Finally, this Ganpati Mandal name list would be incomplete without mentioning Dongricha Raja. Throngs of people come to seek the blessing of this Royal Ganpati and attend the aarti. The Mandal loves to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with a novel theme each year and is famous for its innovative decoration.
