We never (or deliberately dont want to) acknowledge that something dark, gothic, uncanny or devilish can haunt our mundane lives or for that matter places that we consider as sane enough to visit. Pune has always been considered as one of the cleanest cities in India, a city that is known for its cultural and natural beauty. However, you will be shocked to hear that there are certain places in this city that are considered as haunted places in Pune by ghosts. Since we consider that there are certain travel enthusiasts who would like to take a daring selfie with a ghost, we have come up with a list of haunted places to visit in Pune that will frighten as well as excite you. But then, beware of (ahem! Not the dogs) but the ghosts!

1. War Cemetery, Khadki: Haunted Places Around Pune

Khadki is a popular place in Pune that houses the Kirkee War Cemetery. Well, very few people would know that this quaint and beautifully pruned place is supposed to be haunted by the ghosts of the soldiers buried there. The local residents have complained of sensing supernatural disturbances after dark here! Who can dare to complain of the ghosts!

2. Abandoned Mansion, Residency Club Road

There is an abandoned mansion at the Residency Club which is rumored to be possessed by the spirit of an old lady who keeps a watch for trespassers. Certain people have claimed to have heard her laughter and screams from the bungalow late at night.

3. Shaniwarwada Fort: Most Haunted Place in Pune

Who would have guessed that prominent attraction of Pune is considered to have witnessed a high level of supernatural activity? There is a popular story that beckons this belief. According to this story the Shaniwarwada fort is haunted by the spirit of a dead young prince who was brutally murdered here. It is said that on full moon nights, one can clearly hear the words Kaka Mala Vachva (uncle save me) - the final words of the prince emanating from the fort. Screams and cries have become the order of the night here.

4. Gangapuram Society, Viman Nagar: Mysterious Place in Pune

This society located in Viman Nagar is said to have been haunted by a middle aged man, who disappears if you try to approach and talk to him. But even though he doesnt appear to be evil in any way, the residents there still live in fear of the mysterious presence.

5. The Haunted House on MG Road, Camp - Creepy Stories

The deserted house on MG Road is considered to be one of the most haunted places in Pune. There are several stories that revolve around this place and might have colored peoples perception here. One of the story states the killing of a young girl inside this house. People claim they can hear screams and blood-curdling giggles from this house.

6. Sinhgad College of Engineering: Haunted Places Around Pune City

As you move towards Lonavala, you must have come across the beautiful Sinhgad College. However, this beauty nestles terror in it as apparently an old student was disappointed after failing his exams and committed suicide here and has haunted the campus ever since, particularly the spot where he died. Students still avoid going out after the dark here.

7. Lady Halima Begum Urdu Primary School, Kondhwa - Horror in School

This school is rumored to have been haunted after a student reported seeing a spirit come out of the blackboard. This created terror to such an extent that the classes were suspended for a few days following this incident. How much of it is true? Who Knows?

8. Symbiosis Road, Viman Nagar: Haunted Road in Pune

There have been uncanny stories linked to the main road near the Symbiosis College Campus. These include dogs barking at empty spaces and people passing out while walking alone at night.

Located near Pune, the Sinhagad fort is subject to many ghastly tales. Local villagers vouch for hearing war cries from inside the fort late at night. It is believed to be haunted by the ghosts of soldiers who died in the many wars waged in this fort. People have also claimed to have sited paranormal activities within its premises.

10. Choice Hostel, Karve Road - Hostel with Horror Stories

This boys hostel has been claimed to have witnessed quite a bit of paranormal activity. The students have reported sighting a young lady in a red sari, walking the corridors at midnight. Whatever the Bollywood Horror movies can ignite your Gothic imagination with! This is one of the haunted places in Pune City.

11. Haunted Place at Chandan Nagar, Pune - Scary Real Life Story

Chandan Nagar in Pune is also one of the places where people have claimed to have seen many instances of supernatural activities. The place is said to be haunted by the spirit/ghost of small baby girl. Locals say that it is the spirit of a small girl who died during the construction of the house in the area almost a decade back.

12. Holkar Bridge: Ghostly Haunted Bridge in Pune

Holkar Bridge has seen a number of mysterious deaths that have left this structure as uncanny and haunted.  People have claimed of ghost sightings in the area have made this one of the most haunted places in Pune.

13. The Victory Theatre: Haunted Places in Pune Camp

Once a place that had shown a number a dramas, this theatre today is subject to a perfect Bollywood Horror film. Thimayya road in Pune has experienced unexplained noises time and again from this age old theatre. The building is believed to be possessed and locals have reported screams and giggling.

Any ghost is a figment of our imagination. By saying that these places are haunted we do not wish to place these locations in a negative picture but would like to make you crave more to visit them for the sheer thrill that would be entailed!
