Wedding 101: How to Plan a Perfect Wedding

The question is popped, it’s a yes and then begins the wedding planning. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, especially if you are not planning to hire an event manager to do it for you. Right from selecting the best outfits to picking the right menu, from venue to table setting, from rehearsal dinners to wedding favours, there is so much to do! While it has to be a special day, all the jazz about the wedding and the party that follows can drain the bride-and-groom-to-be.

For all those on-the-verge of flipping-out brides-and-grooms-to-be, here’s a wedding planning 101 that can help you plan your special day, without giving you nightmares!

Have a journal/ online diary

Start with a journal or an excel sheet (if you already don’t have one) and list down the to-dos of your wedding, which includes every little thing you’ve dreamt of having for your wedding. This will help you plan the rest a lot better!

Finalise a budget

Set a budget for your wedding. This should ideally cover everything from outfits, services, venue and food for the party and return gifts. If you are going to have a cocktail party before the wedding, include the expenses for the same in the budget.

Choose your wedding type

Now that you have your finances clear, you can pick a type of wedding you want to have. It can be a small function with close friends and family, a small function with extravagant arrangements, a big fun party or a destination wedding! After choosing your wedding type, you can start looking for venues, caterers and decorators. You can also do it yourself if you love D.I.Y.!

If you are planning to have a destination wedding, zero on the destination at the earliest, giving your guests ample time to book their tickets and accommodation. Understand the weather of the destination and you can plan your outfits, parties and food accordingly!

Be Innovative

Weddings are no longer clichéd ceremonies with white gowns and bow ties! Be creative with the theme for your wedding. If you are having a civil ceremony, ditch the traditional dress-code and pick a quirky colour-code or theme for the wedding. If you are having a beach wedding or a wedding somewhere in the mountains, choose comfortable clothing for yourself, the bridesmaids and the guests!

Gift Differently

Be it the engagement party, a bridal shower or the actual wedding, you are going to receive tons of gifts! And you are going to gift the guests as well. While there are many run-of-the-mill party favors and return gifts available, this is your chance to make the guests feel special! Gift people differently, adding a personal touch to each. From personalised mason jars with goodies to Sandalwood fans, there are plenty of cute and interesting ideas that you can check out while picking favors for guests.

Keep Calm

Weddings are important, but not more than you! Don’t let the planning take over you. Keep calm, avoid binge-eating under all the stress and have a good night’s sleep. You don’t want to be sick on the D-Day!

All about the Bridal Shower

This one’s for the bridesmaids and the maid of honour! Bridal Shower can be one of the things the bride looks forward to and making it special is your prime duty! Decorate the bridal shower with an extra oomph, adding cute details that will make the bride grin ear-to-ear. From quirky banners to cake toppers, be imaginative and keep it personal! Use combinations of colours the bride loves and make it a memorable setting for her!

Plan your perfect day, just the way you’ve dreamt of it! Hop on the joyous adventure for a happily-ever-after!
