A Traveller’s Guide To Hyderabad’s Ultimate Pub Crawl!
Are you and your gang of buddies travelling to Hyderabad to have an exciting time? Here's the perfect itinerary for you- explore the famous tourist attractions during the day and go on a pub crawl in the evening!
Begin your day at 10 a.m. with a visit to the renowned Salar Jung Museum. On display at the museum is Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan’s personal collection of artefacts accumulated from various parts of Asia, Europe and Middle East. The intricate and fascinating objects on display range from 2nd century B.C to early 20th century A.D.
You will be done walking around the museum admiring the artefacts just in time for lunch. For a scrumptious meal, visiting Paradise Biryani is a must. Where else in Hyderabad will you get such a sinful plate of biryani?!
After devouring a plate (or two or three!) of the delicious biryani, proceed to the glorious Charminar. A beautiful monument and mosque, Charminar boasts of gorgeous Islamic architecture. Located near the banks of the river Musi, this iconic structure’s name is derived from two distinct words- ‘Char’ meaning 4 and ‘Minar’ meaning towers. By the time you finish exploring this attraction it will be around 3.15-3.30 p.m.
Head over to the Hussain Sagar Lake- one of the biggest manmade lakes in Asia. The serene Buddha statue situated in the middle of the lake is one of the largest free standing Buddha statues in the world. The best way to take in the vastness of the lake is to hop on a boat and paddle/ row around. Since it will be afternoon, don’t forget to wear a cap/ apply sunscreen. After spending an hour or so at the lake, it will be around 5 p.m. which means one thing, time for pub crawling!
Coco’s Bar and Grill would be the perfect place to start. Located in Banjara Hills, this bar offers intoxicating alcoholic beverages along with lip smacking food. Known for its open air ambience and live music, it will be tough for you to leave this place and move on to the next bar. But leave you must! So that you can head over to another bar situated in the same locality. TGI Fridays is famous for its delightful cocktails. While there, do order their Fuzzy Jack & Coke (a mixture of Jack Daniel’s Whiskey and Peach Schnapps topped with Coke).
After a quick cab/ auto rickshaw ride (please don’t drink and drive) of 15-20 minutes will take you to Beer County located in Jubilee Hills. It is famed for its vast collection of beers from all across the globe. While enjoying the atmosphere and foot tapping music, also keep a watch on the time! It would almost 10 p.m. by the time you are done gulping down your beers over here.
Hop into another auto rickshaw/ cab and head over to the Madhapur area where you will be visiting your last pub for the day- the Beach House. Having a nice ambience, the Beach House serves scrumptious food along with a wide variety of beverages- alcoholic and non alcoholic.
The place closes down at 11.30 p.m. and that would be the end of your pub crawl! Hope you reach your accommodation safely! In alcohol’s defence, I have done some pretty dumb shit even while completely sober!
