Ranganathaswamy Betta Trek:
Well known for its white rock, the Ranganathaswamy Betta, also known as BR Hills, is located around 70 kilometres from the city of Bangalore. A night trek under a starry sky towards the top through the vast wilderness will leave you with an enchanting feeling.

Mcleodganj to Lahesh:
A 2 night 3 days long hike, the Mcleodganj to Lahesh Cave trek is a picturesque one. One has to trek 9 kilometres from Mcleodganj to Triund and halt over there overnight. The next day, trek over to the mysterious Lahesh Cave- a hike to which takes 5 hours maximum. After exploring the caves, one can return to Triund, rest overnight and then proceed to Mcleodganj the next day. Many avid trekkers simply rest at Triund the first day, catch a magnificent sunset and then trek onwards to the Lahesh Cave with the light of a million starts guiding them.

Dhotrey Tonglu Top:

Usually undertaken during the day, this easy trek can also be done in the darkness of the night. Dhotrey is situated around a couple of hours drive from the beautiful town of Darjeeling. It is from here that the trek begins towards the Tonglu Top. If you leave from Darjeeling at 12.30 a.m., you can start your ascend by 2.30 or 3 a.m. and reach the Tonglu Top just in time to catch a magnificent sunrise. From the top, you can either head back the way you came or you can further go to Tumling Point and then descend via Chitrey.

The Vikatgad Trek, also known as Peb Fort trek, is an enjoyable trek generally undertaken at night or during the monsoons. Located around 4 kilometres from Neral Station, Raigad, the trekking trail passes through a quaint village and a dense forest and witnesses waterfalls, rock patches, ladders, caves and ridge walking. A dream destination for nature lovers and adventure trekkers.

Tholung Monastery Trek:

Not exactly a night trek per say, one can start for this trek late in the morning and then return back by nightfall. Located in the gorgeous state of Sikkim, the Tholung Monastery was first built in the reign of Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal in the early 18th century. It houses valuable and rare artefacts and scriptures belonging to other monasteries. These artefacts were brought here for safety during the invasion of Sikkim by the Nepal. Located at an altitude of 8,000 feet, one has to travel by road to the town of Linzey. A hike of 20 kilometres from Linzey will take you to the beautiful monastery. Taking around 5 hours to complete one way, the trek route lies along the bustling Tholung River, through serene dense forests.

The forts of Shrivardhan and Manaranjan make up the marvellous fortification of Rajmachi. The night trek starts from the hill station of Lonavala and is a must do for trekking enthusiasts in the state. Although the trek is a moderate one, be prepared to walk a lot. It seems like a never-ending one! Usually, during the night, trekkers hike up to the village located at the bottom of the fortification. After resting for a while at the local homestays, they start ascending towards Rajmachi in the morning.

Trekkers prefer spending the night at the top all the while enjoying bonfires and games of antakshari. They begin the descend by dawn.
