The United States of America is blessed with some of the most diverse travel destinations. Be it the busy hum of cities, sparkling beaches, picturesque driveways, monuments soaked in history, futuristic amusement parks, deep salty oceans, cascading waterfalls, the list is endless! 

The month of May is one of the best times to travel to and within USA. As the spring sets in, days get pleasantly warm, and with the expensive summer season lurking around the corner, I think this is the best time to take a vacation.

1. Walt Disney World, Florida

Often called the happiest place on the planet, Walt Disney World is an entertainment complex set in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. With four theme parks, two water parks, a sports complex, many golf course, more than 20 hotels, and multiple restaurants, cafes and shops (phew!), Mickey Mouse heads this place as the town’s mayor. Sprawling across an area of 47 square miles, the Walt Disney World boasts acres of unspoilt landscapes like the many magical lakes, wildlife, wetland forests, and woodland; and numerous theme-based rides, soaring castles, and animal reserve that have been carefully crafted to entice people of all age groups. 

From Star Wars and Disney Princesses to luxury fine-dine and Disney parades, it is the attention to detail and originality that has led Walt Disney World retain its position as one of the top-rated attractions in USA.

Put on your bathing suit, hit the beach and play in the gentle blue waves roll up the beach, or sit back and sigh at the ocean as the waves lap the beach in a steady rhythm. If you are in town, drive along the Ocean Drive and whiz past many lavish art-deco buildings, lounge at one of its sun-kissed poolside terraces, enjoy the sweeping views of the glittering skyline, or simply indulge in one of the chic restaurants overlooking the ocean. My memory of Seattle is the one from Grey’s Anatomy. This city is windy, cold, fast, electrifying, and scintillating. But Spring here is amazing! Surrounded by water and greens, this port city is home to some of the nicest parks in the state. The most striking feature of Seattle is the soaring Space Needle. Of course, the view from the top is nothing short of magical, with the ground below bustling with lights and life. Come with your family and this city has something to offer to everyone. There are so many things to do in Seattle including gardens, museums, promenades, markets, shops, and lively food scenes. 

Also, let’s not forget, giants like Microsoft and Amazon are headquartered here. 

Things to do: Watch the city from high up above from the Space Needle, dig into local street food at the Pike Place Market, Sail through the bay at Puget Sound, click a selfie at the Gum Wall, and watch the beautiful blooms at the Chihuly Garden and Glass

A family favourite, the sea here is sometimes gentle, and sometimes tempestuous. And while the preservers and state parks form most part of the area, its sea-food restaurants are not-to-be-missed.

Extending into the Caribbean, with the Atlantic Ocean to its east and the Gulf of Mexico to its west, Florida Keys is a coral archipelago and one of the favourite beach destinations in USA. The drive to Key Largo is scenic, with the dazzling blue of the ocean on each side. Once on the island, you can explore many parts of it on foot, but the main highlight remains its beaches. The views here are hypnotic, and with the only living coral reef in the United States, you can spend your day lazing on the beaches. 

As you wake up to the views of the sea that disappears behind the bougainvillea, the days here seem pretty laid-back. In the evening, make sure you refuel yourself with scrumptious sea-food that is just off the boat. It cannot get fresher than this.

Things to do: Apart from engaging in the numerous beach activities, you can visit the Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum, Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Centre, and more
