1. Massachusetts:

Made using potatoes, crushed oyster crackers and chewy chunks of local clam, Massachusetts is known for its homely Clam Chowder- a dish fitting enough for this historical state.

2. Michigan:

Bordering 4 of the Great Lakes, Michigan is a beautiful state in USA. Known for its pies, indulge in a Michigan Pasty (meat pie) or a Cherry pie.

3. Minnesota:

Having a state motto as North Star State and fondly known as Land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesota is infamous for its natural beauty, clear lakes and abundance of wildlife. If you ask a Minnesotan what his favorite dish is, he will swear by the homely Hotdish (pronounced hoddish).

4. Mississippi:

This riverside state houses denizens who are crazy about desserts. So, it is no surprise that the favourite dish over here will be one which will indulge your sweet tooth. The Mississippi Mud Pie is essentially a pile of brownie dough floating in a gallon of chocolate syrup! Top it up with vanilla ice cream to make it more sinful!

5. Missouri:

Home to Ozark Mountains, Missouri treats its visitors with both, sophisticated city life and down-home country sights. A sinful pleasure, eating Fried Ravioli in Missouri is a treat for the senses. Picture this- crispy pasta shell with a filling of soft cheese and topped up with marinara sauce!

6. Montana:

The Treasure State of USA (due to its prevalent mining industry) has a lot of Huckleberries growing during the summers. The best way to eat them is to convert them into a succulent pie, and a Montanan knows how to do it best!

7. Nebraska:

This historical state, unfortunately, faces many violent thunderstorms and tornadoes! And its favourite delicacy is a tornado in your mouth! The Handheld Meat Pie. Tender and moist meat and vegetables are wrapped up in crunchy, crispy dough pockets.

8. Nevada:

Known for its pine nuts, Nevada does not have any particular food dish which it calls its own. However, while in the state, do give pine nuts dishes a try- a Shaved Fennel Salad with pine nuts, Torta di Serretto or a Spaghetti dish with spinach and pine nuts.

9. New Hampshire:

Known for their extensive liking of seafood and dairy products, New Hampshirites love their lobsters, clam chowders and oysters. But they also love their ice creams equally. A must try is the Grape Nuts ice cream, a blend of breakfast cereals and ice cream; sounds weird but tastes heavenly.

10. New Jersey:

A small state bordering New York, one of the things New Jersey is known for is its Salt Water Taffy. This chewy sweet toffee was first introduced in the 1880s in Atlantic City. Having a really interesting and cute back-story, no trip to New Jersey is complete without a Salt Water Taffy!
