Sometimes, it is as though the earth itself rejects inhabitants from the land and so it is with the tale of the city of Craco in Italy. Located at the foot of the city, the population had around 2, 000 inhabitants by the 19th century, but the population only kept dwindling from there on; poor farming conditions and earthquakes over the years further worsened the situation and in 1963, the remaining 1,800 relocated and thus the town turned into the crumbling ruins it is today.
