Last week of November marks the beginning of the holiday season and gets families and loved ones together. What better to way spend the holidays than going on a vacation to San Antonio and celebrating Thanksgiving in the city of festivities and grandeur? You can choose to book a table in one of the restaurants lined along the River Walk and enjoy the parade with some delicious meal. It is recommended to book the tables a day prior to the parade as they sell out quite quickly during the holiday weekend.

Experience a Vegan Thanksgiving

Food is the essential part of this holiday season. There are numerous restaurants lined up in San Antonio that offer buffets, traditional Thanksgiving luncheons and happy hours but something new to try would be a Vegan Thanksgiving spread. The Green’s Pearl Brewery is located on a Street named Grayson and serves a yearly Thanksgiving meal with all vegan alternatives available for the traditional thanks giving delicacies such as turkey and ham. Guests are served on First come, First Serve basis till 4 p.m. with a menu having fixed prices. Be sure to catch a table and enjoy a Vegan Holiday special!

Explore the Museum for free!

The San Antonio Museum of Art offers free admission during the weekend post-Thanksgiving Thursday. After a sumptuous meal and a celebratory night, the art museum would be ideal to visit and keep the children indulged as well as soak in the installations and artworks by the various artists. The museum staff is friendly and the educative so the children will enjoy and learn from them. It will give you the chance to relax and experience art with your family and loved ones. Ensure that you reach early before the crowd sets in for the free admissions.

Lights will guide you to the Sea World 

During the holiday season, the Sea World is decked with bright lights and brings in the Christmas spirit with 5 million light fixtures. The Sea World is transformed into a water wonderland with the holiday spirits soaring high. Along with the water creatures and in-house staff, you will be greeted by Santa, reindeers and day of music, food, fun and beautiful lights. It would be a perfect way to spend a day with the family. Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the celebrations at Sea World. So, if you can’t make it during the Thanksgiving weekend, make time to visit it before January 1st. The festivities and celebrations will go on till the New Years!

San Antonio knows how to lift up the spirits by engaging everyone with the Christmas Light Fest at Don Strange Ranch. The different light displays are bound to keep you mesmerized and bedazzled. Ideally, it is open only for private events but during Thanksgiving its open to the public and brings in the festive spirit. It’s a 20 mins drive from the heart of the city. The countryside set up and the beautiful lights will surely make your stay in San Antonio a memorable one!

There is a lot to do during the evenings in San Antonio. If you are a lover of performing arts and theatre, visiting the Tobin Centre during Thanksgiving would be a perfect way to spend the evening. The Nutcracker is an annual classic ballet that people go to every November and December.
