For those looking for a thrilling summer, Colorado has a heady mix of some of the nation’s best theme and adventure parks. These theme, water, aerial, and adventure parks await you for an unforgettable adrenaline rush. Now these parks may not be as big as Six Flags or Disneyland, but they are fun! A good collection of different thrill rides, family rides, kiddie rides, and water rides, these theme parks in Colorado make the most of the state’s beautiful surroundings.

1. Bananas Fun Park

The Bananas Fun park is a complete family destination. One of the best theme parks in Colorado, Bananas Fun Park is fun for every age. They have a Coconut Cove with a 10,000-gallon tipping bucket, multi-level platforms, over 100 jet features, plus heated water. Their Caddy’s Shack miniature golf features 18 holes and is great for young and old! Other attractions at Banana Fun Park include Rookie Karts, Go-Karts, Bumper Boats, Laser Tags, and more.

2. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

As one of the best adventure parks in Colorado, the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a must visit. What makes this park really unique is that the entire park is located at an altitude of 7,100 feet on a mountain above Glenwood. It was in the 1800s that Charles W. Darrow discovered a cave system and a few expansions later, this cave was turned into a major theme park in Colorado. While here, check out the many rides like Alpine Coaster, Cliffhanger, Wild West Express Coaster, and Giant Canyon Swing among many others.

3. Elitch Gardens

The Elitch Gardens Theme and Family Water Park, fondly called "Elitch's" is one of the best amusement parks in Colorado. Located in the downtown area of Denver, the park premiered in 1995. Throughout its course, the park changed many hands and was also once named Six Flags Elitch Gardens. Since 2015, the park has been under the ownership of Premier Parks, LLC and features a number of rides like Sidewinder, Twister II, Half Pipe, Tea Cups, Tower of Doom, and Thunderbolt.

4. Lakeside Amusement Park

Lakeside Amusement Park is a family-owned amusement park in Lakeside, Colorado, very close to Denver. Opened in 1908 as White City, this was one of the very few trolley parks in Colorado. Rides like Auto Skooters (Bumper Cars), Hurricane, Roll-O-Plane, Dragon, Merry-Go-Round, Wild Chipmunk, Skoota Boats (Bumper Boats) are a must-try. For the kids, rides like Flying Tigers, Jolly Choo-Choo, and Kiddie Sea Dragon are worth checking out.

5. Captain Zipline

The Captain Zipline offers world-class zipline tours.  Come soar over a rugged canyon of the majestic 300 million-year-old Rocky Mountains and test your prowess! As you embark on this tour, you will zip along the cables 100-200 feet above the ground with speeds reaching up to 40 mph. As you look down, you can see the 1890 lime kiln ruins and the abandoned silver mine shaft. Highlights of the tour include the Pack Rat Penthouse, petrified travertine spring formations, pinyon pine bonsai tree.

6. Water World

Water World is a water park in Colorado located in Federal Heights, not very far from Denver. Occupying 67 acres of land, this is one of America's largest water theme parks. Featuring 49 attractions, this park has 23 water slides. "Screamin' Mimi" is one of the most notable slides at the Water World.

7. North Pole Colorado Santa’s Workshop

Opened in 1956, Santa's Workshop is a popular amusement park in Colorado. Located on U.S. Route 24, close to Colorado Springs, this seasonal theme park is modeled after the Santa's Workshop in Lake Placid, New York. This park features a charming North Pole village with many houses and shops selling toys, candy, and Christmas decorations. Best suited for children ages 2 to 12, this park has 28 rides. North Pole Colorado Santa’s Workshop is open from mid-May through Christmas Eve.

8. Fort Fun

With lots of “fun” things to do, Fort Fun is a lakeside recreational centre with two beautiful mini-golf courses, ¼ mile go-kart track, multi-level laser tag arena, indoor bumper cars, air hockey tables, video arcade and prize centre, batting cages (weather permitting), giant slide, swan paddle boats, bumper boats (only in summer), B’loon Blast, a great water balloon game (only in summer), and so much more.

9. Lollipop Park

There is no doubt that Lollipop Park is one of the best kid-friendly parks in Colorado. The park takes pride in having hosted over 3000 birthday parties. This facility features six European amusement park rides and two inflatables for children under the age of 10 like a Carousel ride, bounce house, a train ride, a swing ride, Ferris wheel, teacup ride, whip ride, and fun mirrors.
