Looking for a romantic weekend away? Then why not take your beloved to London! It is often hailed as one of the greatest cities in the world, with the likes of CNN, The Huffington Post and GQ Magazine among those in recent years to sing its praises. Then, it is no surprise that it is also popular with those looking to treat their other half. Here we share a few tips on some of the romantic things you can do in London.

A great way to start is by heading to Westminster to see some of the most famous sights. Buckingham Palace, Westminster Cathedral, The Houses of Parliament (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and Big Ben (officially, the Elizabeth Tower or the Clock Tower) are all within easy walking distance.

It’s also worth popping across to the South Bank, via Westminster Bridge, where you can go for a ride on the London Eye. Be sure to treat yourself to a “fast ticket” if time is tight and you want to avoid the queues. And if you want a VIP experience, you could also arrange to have a glass of bubbly or even book a private capsule, depending on your budget. That’s certainly likely to impress your loved one.

If you want to have a nice peaceful lunch away from the crowds, head to one of London’s beautiful parks and pack a picnic.

Primrose Hill is one of our favorites, as it offers some fabulous views of central London. It is quite close to trendy Camden Town (Camden Market attracts approximately a quarter of a million people every week) and Abbey Road Studios, which is famous for being the studio where the Beatles, among others, recorded many of their songs.

Primrose Hill is also close to Regents Park. There you can go to a fabulous Open Air Theater (with showings from May to September) or pop to London Zoo, although the level of romance will depend on whether or not you are animal lovers.

Now, if you’re looking for a top night out in London, there can really be only one destination: the West End, which is home to Covent Garden, Chinatown, Soho, Theatreland and Leicester Square.

You can take in all kinds of entertainment, including checking out one of the big shows, like the Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia and more. You could also party throughout the night by visiting the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, one of London’s top entertainment spots. It’s a state-of-the-art venue that plays host to regular events like PokerStars LIVE. It has three gaming floors in total, plus six bars and a Heliot Steak House, should you get peckish.

Finally, if you want to try something a bit different (and also get a bit of an adrenaline rush), book a helicopter ride over the capital.

“Rides” depart from several locations, but London Heliport in Battersea, which isn’t far from Clapham Junction train station, is probably one of the most central. Flight times are typically around 18 minutes long, with prices starting from around $230 (£180).

Of course, there are many more romantic things you can do in a city as big and metropolitan as London, and if you have any thoughts or suggestions, please share them below in the comments section. We’d be delighted to know some of your favorite things to do with your loved one. Here’s to romance!
