15 Highest Waterfalls in India To Visit

If you’ve watched the 2015 blockbuster Bahubali, I’m sure you definitely got bowled over by the gigantic falls featured in the film. Even though that particular waterfall was Athirapally falls in Kerala, but it's still not the highest. Because there are many waterfalls which are more extravagant than this one.

15. Soochipara Waterfalls - Wonder in the god's own Country

A three-tiered waterfall in God's own country, the Soochipara Falls in Wayanad also offers some breathtaking views of the tea estates. Also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls, this one is also a major tourist attraction in Kerala. 

Location: Wayanad, Kerala
Height: 656 feet
Best time to visit: The best time to visit Soochipara waterfalls is during the months from October to March, when the climate is comparatively colder. Also avoid visiting here during monsoon, as the place gets all muddy and slippery.
How to Reach: Nearest bus stand is Meppadi and nearest railway station is Kozhikode Railway Station, which is about 78 kilometers. You can hire a cab or even board a bus to reach Soochipara Waterfalls.

14. Kune Waterfalls - Popular weekend getaway

The 14th highest waterfall in India, Kune waterfalls is one of the most popular weekend getaways for Mumbaikars and Punekars. This one in in the famous Khandala-Lonavala twin hill station and can be seen from the old Mumbai-Pune expressway. 

Location: Lonavala, Maharashtra

Best time to visit: The ideal time to visit Kune waterfalls is during the monsoon season. Mid monsoon months like August and September are considered as the peak period to visit Kune falls.

13. Barehipani Falls - Popular tourist spot in Odisha

A waterfall on the Budhabalanga river flowing on Meghasan mountain, Barehipani falls is an important tourist destination in Odisha. In its close proximity lies Jornada waterfalls, another tourist attraction in Mayurbhanj. 

Location: Mayurbhanj, Odisha

Best time to visit: The months starting from October to June are considered to be the best one to explore the beauty of Barehipani falls. During monsoon, the area gets too slippery and hence it is not advisable to visit here.
How to reach: The nearest railway station is Baripada.  The falls are located in Simlipal National Park and one can take a taxi from Baripada station to reach here.

12. Vantawng Falls - Highest waterfall in Mizoram

8. Thalaiyar Falls - Highest waterfall in Tamil Nadu
