Let me just tell you what does the city represent. Los Angeles has witnessed the rise and shine of Hollywood. In the Golden Age of Hollywood -- roughly from the late 1920s to the early 1960s -- the studio system was in full swing, and its stars were anointed like royalty. With the likes of Clark Gable and Greta Garbo, glamour and scandal were the order of the day. If the glitter and sham of Hollywood's brilliant past and present captures your fancy, or if you've got a hankering for Hollywood history, then visit LA, the city where fancy is morphed into reality.

Walk into the Beverley Hills Hotels and Resorts, a place that has been hallowed by the presence of stars like Bogart and Bacall, these posh pastel premises have seen more than their fair share of classic Hollywood moments over the past century. Though the hotel has been updated from its original 1912 design, it retains many of its famous features, like the pink-and-mint stripe dcor, sceney poolside cabanas and the crowds of Hollywood movers and shakers. The rooms feature opulent marble bathrooms (many with Jacuzzis) and quirky retro touches, like original butler bells. For a super-exclusive experience, opt for one of the famed private bungalows. If you wish to listen to some star gossip: Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich once bedded down in these.

Being the entertainment hub of America, any tour to this city cannot be just complete without visiting Universal Studios Hollywood. There is a pleasure that lies in a behind-the-scenes studio tour. Take a studio tour around this studio that is perhaps its most legendary attraction. Whats more? This is the original one, having debuted in 1915, not long after the theme park opened. Narrated by Jimmy Fallon, the Studio Tour offers guests the chance to explore the working backlot of a real Hollywood movie studio. The tour includes Oscar-winning filmmaker Peter Jacksons heart-pounding King Kong 360 3D, the worlds largest 3D experience.

Dine with the Stars- What can be more outlandish and luxurious than to eat a place that has been visited by the bright stars of (well not sky) but Hollywood. No matter where you are in Los Angeles, theres a good chance youll bump into a star, especially if youre dining at a restaurant that celebrities love, like Wolfgang Puck at the Hotel Bel-Air. Try their sauteed dover sole with sugar snap peas. Its amazing.

Academy Gallery & Grand Lobby Gallery- Well if you are not tired of Hollywood till now, then do visit The Academy's Grand Lobby Gallery and Fourth Floor Gallery  that offer free exhibitions that are related to the film industry, and are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday. Both galleries (as well as the Samuel Goldwyn Theater) are located at the Academy Headquarters in Beverly Hills. The Linwood Dunn Theater is at 1313 Vine Street in Hollywood (at Fountain Avenue, a half mile south of Hollywood and Vine Metro station). Take a guided tour: Take a trip around the city to witness the movie star homes. Starline Tours of Hollywood offers a two-hour Movie Stars Homes Tour that takes you by current homes of top stars like Jennifer Aniston, Tom Cruise and Dr. Phil, as well as former homes of super stars like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. The tour includes a drive past other hangouts of the rich-and-famous, such as Rodeo Drive, Bel Air, Beverly Hills and the Sunset Strip. LA City City Tours offers a two-hour tour that includes a stunning view of the city, the Hollywood Bowl and the Hollywood Sign from atop Mulholland Drive! See the stars' homes and then look down on the city below! You will also see Bel Air and the Sunset Strip. You might not actually see a celebrity, but imagine the thrill of seeing their neighborhoods, the streets that they drive on and the house that they call home. These tours are far better than buying a worthless "map of the movie star homes" and driving around in a rented car looking for those locations. Those maps can be quite outdated. Instead, take a Movie Stars Homes Tour driven by a professional who already knows where to go. They'll give you the scoop on the REAL homes of the stars.
