Known for its beaches, Honolulu is all about luxury hotels. The hotels and other accommodations are mainly concentrated in the Waikiki Area. Few Campsites are available. Generally, budget and cheap hotels are rare in Honolulu. You can find instead Bread & Breakfasts instead. Downtown area offers plenty of budget options and attractions like the beach and the Al Moana Shopping Mall are a drive away. The neighbourhoods in Honolulu are broadly categorised around Waikiki itself and the beachfront properties are generally expensive.

It is important to note that most hotels will charge a tax of about 14% over and above the room tariff. Also, not all hotels will offer free parking, so if you are driving, which is the most common way to get around, be prepared to pay a $20-$30 parking fee a day.
