Accommodation is varied – from the extremely cheap to the super classy, but your best option would be to look at the budget ones which are great value for money and have an incredible atmosphere.

Hostel Maya:

This top quality yet inexpensive hostel has friendly and helpful staff. Located in one of the best neighbourhoods in the city close to all of the main sites and spots, you really can’t go wrong here,

Wild Rover Backpackers Hostel:

This could be the highest Irish owned backpackers’ hostel in the world. There is a lively bar and crowd to match. Centrally located, there is an all-day food menu with lots of comfort food as well as wifi, a pool table and TV.

Tiquina Palace Hotel :

Situated in a great location with lovely rooms and a nice hot shower it doesn’t get much better than this when it comes to value for money. There is free wifi and a basic breakfast is included in the rate. 

What To Eat

There are lots of interesting restaurants and bars all over the city. While local law prohibits the sale of alcohol after 4am, most of the speak easy saloons ignore this.

The Star of India:

This is one of the only places in Bolivia that you can get curry from. They deliver to your hostel and have a piping hot vindaloo. If you finish the vindaloo you will get a free “I survived the world’s highest vindaloo” T-shirt.

Alexander Coffee & Pub, Santa Barbara:

This trendy café serves all kinds of coffee drinks, sandwiches and pastries. It’s the perfect place to get your caffeine fix and the food is super tasty. 

Café La Terraza, Sopocachi:

Expect fantastic espressos, cooked breakfasts that remind you of home and rich chocolate cake at this stylish chain.
