Stuttgart can be pricey but you get what you pay for. If you would like a cheaper option, try looking at the outskirts of the city and surrounding towns.

• InterCityHotel Stuttgart: Ideally located close to the train station, Stuttgart National Theater and New State Gallery, this hotel has fantastic rooms, a bar/lounge, wireless internet and direct dial phones.
• Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin: Don’t be fooled by the concrete exterior of this hotel, once you are inside you will see why it has a five star rating. There are stylish rooms, a Zen-style spa and a Michelin starred restaurant, Olivio, on the premises.
• Hotel Azeburg: This family run hotel has individually designed themed rooms with everything from Picasso to English country manor being a theme. There is an excellent breakfast and a wonderful pool to relax in.

• D'Besa am Kelterplätzle: Wine makers throughout the region attach a broom to the front of their homes to let you know that they’re open for business from October to March.  Besenwirtschafts are small restaurants where people can eat, drink and buy the new vintage.
• Weingut Ruoff As one of the few Besenwirtschafts that open all year, Weingut Ruoff is in a house built in 1550 and serves typical Swabian cuisine like Kartoffelsuppe, Gaisburger Marsch and Schlachtplatte.
• Weber: This restaurant is all about local flavors with a Mediterranean twist – try the ostrich fillet with lemon Schupfnudeln (potato noodles) while you enjoy the stylish interior made up of teak tables, olive-black colours and woven screens.
