The historic Fort Phantom Hill in Texas was the second line of forts laid out in the early 1850’s to fortify the westward-moving frontier of Texas Settlement. Now it acts as a basepoint to the Texas Forts trail offering a 650-mile highway tour. Although it was demolished by fire, there is still much to explore by the visitors. You can explore, inspect or study the old fort including its three original stone buildings –Stone-powder magazine, stone guardhouse and a warehouse with stone chimneys and stone foundations. There are many ghost stories circulated about this fort and the lake nearby. Although proven vague, you can still feel the chill!
