What’s a better place to learn about the city’s culture than visiting the building from where it all started. Qasr Al Hosn is just that! Not only is it the oldest building in town but it also signifies its very first establishment. Yes, the today’s ‘White Fort’ when built in 1761 was a mere conical watchtower for citizens to keep an eye on the entrance. The tower was later expanded and the area was fortified in 1793. It became the place of the ruling sheikh and in 1930s it was further expanded to give it its current shape. Today on visiting the place you can see certain parts of it as it is partially open to public. Not only for architects but the building is a muse among archeologists and historians as well. The building also hosts an exhibit which displays a range of artifacts depicting its old times along with military weapons and more. Great to visit if you need to brush up your facts.
