Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Reviews
Staff were exceptional. Big play area for children. Got there around feeding time, so many of the animals were active. Many well loved & cared for creatures - not just used to, but comfortable with human presence. Baby gibbon is getting bigger, baby tortoises were adorable. Red tailed black cockatoo was a ball of love. Butterfly garden was covered in butterflies. Took peripheral part in several "keeper talk" events; great sessions explaining what goes on, the biology & environmental focus of the animals. Free public transport (route 98/99) stops immediately in front of the entrance walkway. Grounds were clean & well maintained. Food prices were rather steep (~$4 bottle of still water). Security is decent, maintains customer privacy well. If you plan on going more than once, yearly memberships are an excellent option.
We love the zoo. Lots of fun animals to see. The playground is amazing. We usually do a combo of a packed lunch and buy something sweet after. Always lots of nice places to sit for a picnic while we walk around. Gift shop is average. I feel like they sell a lot of things related to animals that you can't even see at the zoo. And their prices are quite high . Lovely setting. Close to cut. Really simple parking and not too pricey to park either which is great!
I recently visited Adelaide Zoo with some friends of mine. We all found it to be an awesome experience, from the staff to the animals to the environmentally friendly surroundings. The animals looked healthy and on speaking to some of the keepers, found out that all the animals are given enrichment activities to do and they have a nutritionist etc etc on site. I would recommend the Zoo to any of my friends who may travel to Adelaide. It is a very easy walk to the Zoo from the centre of Adelaide (we actually walked from Hilton Hotel area)
My partner and I are serial zoo goers when we travel. The last time we were in Adelaide we visited the zoo. Honestly the BEST zoo I've been to. Amazing enclosures, the only pandas in Australia (worth it on their own) friendly staff, the zoo experiences are really well advertised. I did the lemurs and I will never forget it. If in Adelaide HIGHLY recommend this zoo.
I’ve been dedicated to this zoo since I was a child. Amazing zoo that proves size doesn’t mean anything. This is the only place you will see Giant pandas in the Southern Hemisphere so I highly recommend that! The keepers are so friendly and with this zoo constantly evolving always something new to see!
