Adelaide Zoo, Adelaide Reviews
Staff was really dedicated and efficient, they helped making the whole experience truly enjoyable. All the exhibits are impeccably maintained and I liked seeing employees of all ages, everyone was absolutely wonderful, especially the lovely lady at the information counter. I would suggest someone controlling the number of visitors going in the petting zoo area, I thought there were too many people at the time today and the animals could get distressed. We were a group of five, two mums and three kids including one toddler and we all had a fantastic day, very easy and accessible, highly recommended for families.
Small, but able to get up much closer to the animals than at other zoos. A good range of animals, most of which were quite active. The zoo has a somewhat confusing layout, so definitely use a map to navigate otherwise its likely you will miss whole sections. Overall a very reasonable zoo, in a great location close to the city.
I love this zoo. The gardens are immaculate. The staff are typically eager to engage with visitors & free tours are provided daily by volunteers. Recent renovations included the addition of a playground suitable for children aged 5 & over, with enough room for adults to play with them if desired. There are also animal encounters available at an extra charge, which include such things as feeding the meerkats, little penguins & even lions. All in all, an excellent way to spend a day & couldn't recommend highly enough.
Pick a day with good weather and your guaranteed a fantastic family outing at Adelaide zoo. All the enclosures are beautiful so it's evident the animals are well looked after! Plenty of activities and possible animal interactions are available for people of any age. Good facilities with numerous cafes/kiosks, toilets, undercover areas, seating and a shop to grab a souvenir. Can be a little expensive so a zoo membership is definitely excellent value (only takes two or three visits in a year to recover costs!).
Except for the fact someone stole $45 out of my purse, it was a lovely day spent sketching the animals. Please be careful with your personal belongings, I wouldn't want anyone else to lose anything. It's a shame that such a nice day was clouded by such a crappy thing. It's simple if it doesn't belong to you, don't touch it. $45 might not seem like much to you, but that was my petrol money.
