Agonda Tourism

Known for the famous Agonda Beach, Agonda is a small town in the state of Goa that glistens with picturesque nature and shimmering waters. Traditionally a fishing village, this place has remained quaint and somber in the past. However, with the growth of travel industry that is trying to discover the unexplored corners of the world, this small town or rather a village has got a share of its limelight.

The town is a great alternative to the otherwise crowded and popular parts of Goa. If you are looking for a truly calm getaway, this place is ideal as it has family-run guesthouses, hut camps and the restaurant scene is relatively quiet. Moreover, the surrounding hills and forest are exquisite. The village is certainly one of those places that deserve to be mentioned for anyone seeking somewhere quiet and wholesome, with enough amenities for a relaxing holiday, but still plenty of local atmosphere.

Essential travel information and Agonda tips for your visit

  • Although Goa is a pretty safe place as compared to other parts of India it is better to be safe than sorry. Carry your money and travel documents (preferably wrapped in plastic to avoid dampness) in a Money Belt around your waist well hidden from sight.
  • Fresh seafood dishes are probably the safest and tastiest bet in most small restaurants that you will visit.
  • If you are a foreign national (probably coming for the first time), be warned that you will be quoted some truly exorbitant prices for most things that you ask for, right from household goods to taxi rates etc. And the rates might still seem cheap due to the currency conversion. However always check around with a number of sources for an approximate reasonable price before striking a deal.
