The Sabarmati Riverfront is actually a project taken up to renovate the look of the city and make its proper connections with the Sabarmati River. This also has a purpose to develop the living conditions of the people around the river. The project was started by the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation in 2004.

The project encompasses both banks of the river and covers the entire area around. The Fatewadi Canal is fed by water stored in the Vasna barrage through releases from the Narmada Canal. This helps in storing the river water. The project aims at reducing chances in the flood prone areas of the regions and also cleaning activities of the Sabarmati River. The project aspires to create a different sky line project for the city.

This riverfront is a tourist hotspot with lots of area for people to take a walk and enjoy the cool breeze of the river. There are also benches for everyone to sit and relax and spend some leisure time. The view from the riverfront platform is amazing.
