Great Sand Dunes Lodge, Alamosa Reviews

  • Wow the place is nice. We stayed in room 15 and it was the best room for sure! We were on the end and could see the great sand dunes from our private porch. There is a pull out couch and lots of room. It’s so nice. The owner checked us in and she went out of her way to greet me and make me feel at home. Get room 15 if you can!

  • Great location near dunes but not much more for high price. Older motel. Indoor motel that smelled on strong chemicals. Staff seemed disinterested and bothered by questions. Definitely see the dunes but try to plan your stay elsewhere.

  • The location makes the place. It's just a few minutes from the entrance to the park. The rooms are simple and not very big but they're in one row so everyone has a great view (the photo I posted is from right outside the room). Having a pool is a nice touch. Make sure you check to see what else is open because Alamosa is about 35 minutes away.

  • Don’t get me wrong, this place works if you’re looking for a place to camp/lay your head, and the views from the campsites are absolutely amazing... OKAY campsites, but the only ones close if the campsites are full inside the park. They know it too. $25 for a site with no restrooms within walking distance and no water other than in the restrooms and down at the restaurant/lodge. They do have flush toilets and showers, but my bf said the men’s restroom smelled so horrid that he opted to wait and use the restroom in the visitors center of the park the next morning. In the main store, they have a microwave, but it can only be used for food bought inside the store....even though we paid for a campsite. Kinda crappy in my opinion. Plus, $11 for a breakfast burrito with just eggs and potatoes? Maybe in Manhattan. LOL We might as well have just stayed in Alamosa and driven into the park in the morning....

  • It is a cozy little motel with beautiful views. Rooms were clean and staff is friendly. Service was excellent.
