Whale World, Albany Reviews
My visit commenced with the guided tour by a well informed staff member which helped me understand the function of the whaling station. Being an old industrial plant, it lacks the refinement of a modern museum and may be difficult for some people to get around. However, the exhibits are well presented and the 3D film was particularly effective. The gift shop was well stocked and the cafe served good food in a great scenic setting.
Place that you must visit if you are going to visit Albany. Whale skeleton are impressive. Never seen some like that... The staff is very friendly and have good knowledge... very interesting know this part of the history of Western Australia but also very happy that there is no more whale hunting. The tour is very well organized.. I like the possibility to see the boat inside very interesting.
Place that you must visit as a family. Whale skeleton are impressive and many more. Experience in the ship is so real in a windy day. Never feel something like that... There were good theaters with most innovated technology...The staff is very friendly and have good knowledge...Very value for the price...
We found it an excellent place to visit and get a history of whaling in Australia. A whaler you can climb all over, excellent videos set up inside the old oil holding tanks, two whale skeltons 1x 15m the other 30m. Cafe had reasonably priced meals overlooking the bay. Didn't have time to see wild flower area.
A must do tourist destination of Albany. An impressive use of what was a working whaling station. Be sure to attend the free tour as it provides a great start to your exploration. To really take your time and see all the whaling station, wildlife and nature walk, you will need a good 2 full days. Don't worry, you simply give your names to the ticket lady and you can return the next day for free. Make sure you stop by the little cafe! Some of the best tea and scones around!
