Dissected by the main road to Albufeira, the Montechoro Strip runs from the Hotel Montechoro right until the beach. This is the ‘north strip’ with the southern one falling in Areias de Sao Joao. Catering mainly to Irish/English tourists, the Montechoro strip is bustling with bars, restaurants, coffee shops, designer boutiques and wine shops.
The potential for people-watching is immense here with most bars located on the strip being open-fronted. There’s plenty of entertainment to be had here as well with a blend of karaoke nights, sports screenings and live acts/tributes.
Evenings here are lively and there is a lot of laughter and merriment in general – be careful while walking around though as cars still use the road.
This part of the strip is still considered the ‘calmer’ part, with the bars closer to the Hotel Montechoro being more family-oriented with a variety of interesting clientele.
There is an excellent range in choice for food and wine, catering to all tastes and budgets.
