The Royal Flying Doctor Service - Review
The Royal Flying Doctor Service, previously known as Aerial Medical Service is 24 hour medical service where almost 80% of Australia can be reached by air, within two hours. The doctors and staff are constantly on call to respond to any medical emergency conveyed to them. Their main job at hand is to provide primary and preventive care till the patient is taken to a more stationary facility.
The Alice Springs base is a rather popular tourist attraction, but can be toured by the conducted tours that run every 30 minutes. The tour will allow you a look at the theatre for a visual treat, the operational air base, a full scale replica of the current aircraft in use, a flight simulator, medical gear used in the past and the control room.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Alice Springs Reviews
Marvellous display of pioneering history and equipment. Educational video presentation on Flying doctors and the immense area covered. Gift shop has large variety souvenirs on display.
Great insight to our white medical heritage. Pity very little was said about the indigenous history in relation to RFDS. Flynn born "Reverend" - must have been ordained after taking lessons while in the womb?
Worth going even just to see the hologram, but has a lot more too, like bits of a plane! Good souvenir shop as well.
Great displays and awsome orginsation. Support when you can.
Well worth a visit. Fascinating talk and museum to look around. Great to understand how this vital service operates.
