Kerala, a state on India's tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It's known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers.

  • Very nice atmosphere, kayamkulam boat race is conducting at this lake.

  • Clean and beautiful lake view

  • Nice place ti spend evening time

  • This is the most accessible, affordable and nice way to se the backwaters and also to get a glimpse of the local culture. The ferries are run by SWTC and the jetty is located just near to the bus stand. There also is DTPC office there along with tourists information centre and you can get needed info fro there. We did 2 tours.. First one at 4:30 in the evening to Kainakerry..the best tour, saw village life and sunset on return. Another in the morning, 11:30 to Kollam. This was good too. Enjoy your ride and interact with locals on this ferry ride :)
