Astronomical wonders can be seen and understood by visiting the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory located on the slopes of Mount Hopkins. The research activities of this observatory include imaging and spectroscopy of extragalactic, steller and planetary bodies, cosmic and gamma rays and so on. There are three different elevations and each of them exhibits different equipment. The Summit at 2616m has the 6.5m MMT used for solar system, galactic and extragalactic astronomy.
