About Durgiana Temple, Amritsar

Taking architectural inspiration from the Golden Temple, the Durgiana Temple is located in the heart of Amritsar. Built in the 16th century, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is rather popular within the Hindu devotees. The temple is visited the most during the festival of Navratri and is surrounded by holy water, where pilgrims take a dip to cleanse themselves. The interiors, along with other Hindu deities also have scriptures and manuscripts of the Hindu religion as well as intricate carvings of the presiding Goddess Durga in her many forms. • This temple was built in 1905 with an idea to make a replica of golden temple, for Hindu pilgrims . Temple is good but nowhere stands when compared to the original golden temple which was built in 16th century. Not properly maintained, not clean but yes compared to other temples it's good. Although this place is not much far from golden temple but not so popular. Must visit place in Amritsar. Have a look on your tour of Amritsar.

  • Replica of Golden Temple. Temple surrounding with lake. Very calming and good feeling. Don't miss the ceiling of temple with it's glass work and inscriptions. Bhajjans were soothing.

  • Durgiana Tirath hindu religious temple. Also known as lakshmi Narayan temple. Temple also serves free food (bhandara).
