Art Plein Spui - Review
This place is basically a small square and is surrounded by bookstores and such places. This is an art market where, 25 professional artists are allowed to show their artwork and sell it too. The artists keep on changing, but mostly they belong to an organization which brings in about 60 artists. These shows are normally accompanied with live music and that makes these shows all the more interesting and exciting.

Art Plein Spui, Amsterdam Reviews
There's lots of different art work if you are in the area and you love art go and take a look.
If you like small stalls selling hard to find books or home made artisan crafts then you'll like this. Its in a large square just iff if the main drag. There's lots of people here but its relatively peaceful. You really clise to a lot of good eats and there's a herring stand just off of the square. You have to suffer a little through cigarette smells and the ever present stench of pot that seems to blanket Amsterdam. But you get used to it.
The Art Market in Spui is one of the best local things to do in Amsterdam. There are incredible artists displaying their work and it is a feast for the eyes because it is Spui. Make sure to stop by the herring stand nearby and pick up the best street lunch / street food in Amsterdam.
The Sunday's art fair on the Amsterdam Spuiplein ("Art Spuiplein") really is a joy when strolling through the city center. It is highly diverse and dynamic, with the artists themselves showing today's endless and unexpected possibilities of art in 2D and 3D. One can find works of art produced by very modern as well as by skilled, traditional techniques. I came across high quality and enjoyed talking with the artists (which hardly occurs in galleries). And each Sunday it varies. A big recommendation!
This is a top quality market with unique offerings by skilled and experienced artists. I particularly admire the whimsical creativity of Erna Kuik’s Lino cuts, collages and photomontages to keep or give as gifts. Don’t miss it if you’re interested in art and artists!
