Very nice, but nothing extraordinary. Stained glasses on top of altar attracted my eye: they are of very high quality (not up to their French equivalents, but still...).
Majestic cathedral at the heart of Amsterdam, right on the other side of the river in respect to Centraal Station. Worth a visit: all the structure is in Dutch style (notice the boat miniature at the entrance) with wonderful Gothic-style windows all around. Despite being a church, the amount of light entering is deeply amazing.
This church was so beautiful, it has a dark vibe I may say goth but that’s just my feeling, I know it isn’t actually one! But the windows, the atmosphere was mesmerizing!
I liked this church mainly because is open for everybody, not like other churches I have been which are open for people with a required "status" only. Also in this church there is a Spanish mass some days of the week.
Once you've visited St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican nothing will ever quite compare, but Amsterdam's primary Roman Catholic church, St Nicholas Basilica, is a lovely church too, albeit on a less grand scale. Entry into the church is free and is open to visitors on most days except for when there is mass.
