It is a closed off inland bay located in the central Netherlands. The lake covers an area of 1100 m2 making it the largest one in the country. The closing off on this lake is done by Afsluitdijk (Closing dyke) which is a 32-kilometer embankment that connects to the area of Friesland and Noord Holland. While the main purpose of this Ijsselmeer is mainly transporting and such, it is also popular for providing a range of water sports.
