Myself, my fiancé and our two friends visited for dinner tonight around 9pm. We're English and Irish native but have been residents in Amsterdam for a number of years now, we're also heavily tattooed and can understand to some people that's not normal but the service we received tonight was appalling. We sat by the window, took over 15 minutes for us to even place an order. Our table was cleared before our friend was even finished her starter and when our mains came ( we ordered 3 mains) we only got one portion of rice between us.. When we asked are the other two portions coming we got told that that was a portion for 3 main dishes which was barely enough for my fiance by himself. The server told us another plate was on its way when we said there wasn't enough but of course it didn't arrive.. The meals were tasty but tiny portions for near enough €16 each and when you only get one portion of rice even though it says rice included with all mains.. we were left with empty plates for a good half hour before we had to call one of the servers over to ask for our bill which then took another ten minutes to receive. Once we pulled out out Dutch bank cards the server knew they had made a mistake, it was clear on their faces. It's just horrible to be treated in such a displeasing manner just because of our accents and how we look. Such a real shame..
Sometimes I order Indian food and I always order it here. I called them for take away and ordered, without looking at the menu two special menu's. When I arrived I got a crazy big bag with Indian food and I had to pay 59 euro's for it. Not what I expected, but it was my mistake. The owner looked at me and noticed that I didn't order this on purpose. He lowered the price to 45 euro's. What an amazing guy and the food was really good. Overall great food and lovely people. Eat or take away at this place! Thanks again!!
I went with my office team. True authentic Indian food in Amsterdam. Ambiance is average. No Indian restaurant can match taste of Indian food outside India. But this is close one I must say. my team has people of diverse Nationalities and they love this place.
Ambience: 4 stars. Busy, nice lighting, live glass washer. Quality: 3.5 stars. Good, solid Indian food. Dansak was too lemony and lack of sauces with popadoms. Value: 2.5 stars. Not cheap based on quality. Service: 4.5 stars. Excellent service, attentive.
Enjoyed it thoroughly, but the servers seemed to be disinterested or bored. Luckily the food definitely made up for it! Nice to see an Indian restaurant with lots of vegetarian options
