Jewish people have historically turned to Alaska during different times of their persecution. During the Nazi days, the Central European Jews did the same, led by the Russian born Secretary of the Interior Harold Ickes. His efforts failed. This museum tells the story of that failure, and of subsequent successes when Warren Metzger and his wife Marian airlifted 47,000 Jews to Israel by Alaskan Airlines. Check museum website for upcoming events.
