This is a strenuous but highly rewarding hike. Starting from the trailhead you will ascend until you rise above the tree line. At that point you will get onto a ridge and simply walk up that steep ridge until you reach Bird Ridge point, 3400 feet above where you started from. The trail is 2.5 miles one way, so that’s quite a steep ascent. And it’s totally worth it thanks to the terrific views from the wind blown heights. Some people go beyond the Bird Point Ridge, following the ridge trail to an elevation of 4700 feet. Go in peak summer for the best experience.

Bird Ridge Trailhead Reviews & Ratings
Beautiful Place for Hiking, great View! I have built this extraordinary Stone-man... my "Birthday" at 29th July was a good day!!! It will be in good memory!
If you're not super athletic like myself then this will be a challenge. It's super steep from beginning to end. I'm use to easy to moderate hikes and I would rate this one hard. My legs were burning the entire way. I took many breaks while hiking with a friend so it took me 2 hours and 10 minutes to get to the top. Once you reach the top, the views are incredible and well worth the struggle. Getting down took a little over an hour since I'm not use to super steep and rocky terrain. Very rewarding experience. Bring bear spray, water, good shoes and a snack.
Ugh! Great views if you can get up the pretty tough first few miles. This trail is one of the toughest we have tried near Anchorage. Just a few miles out of town, the path starts up pretty aggressively, paved for a few hundred yards, to a outdoor restroom, then up you go! If you can make the first few miles, you pop out of the tree line to a great East/West view of the bay and the southern mountains. Bring you comfy shoes and bear spray. Lots of animal activity out there in the warm months. Enjoy.
Pretty intense on the way up, very intense on the way down. Plan to spend 3ish hours to get to the peak and back. The view is worth it.
Steep climb, $5 parking, highway noise first part of climb. Good view above treeline
