This is a strenuous but highly rewarding hike. Starting from the trailhead you will ascend until you rise above the tree line. At that point you will get onto a ridge and simply walk up that steep ridge until you reach Bird Ridge point, 3400 feet above where you started from. The trail is 2.5 miles one way, so that’s quite a steep ascent. And it’s totally worth it thanks to the terrific views from the wind blown heights. Some people go beyond the Bird Point Ridge, following the ridge trail to an elevation of 4700 feet. Go in peak summer for the best experience.
