Unlike tourists, the locals don’t head all the way out of Anchorage to far flung locations to find some natural beauty. They prefer somewhere close by, like the Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park, bordering this city bound lagoon. The park is the meeting point of two of the city’s most famous trails, Tony Knowles and Chester Creek, so there are a lot of outdoorsy activities going on. Rent a kayak or a canoe and head out to fish in the water if you with. If you’re more wildlife inclined, try to spot the muskrats, otters, red fox, and mink. Birdies should be on the lookout for mallards, swallows, pintails, geese and such like. When the water freezes over in winter, head out to skate on the ice or play ice golf.

Westchester Lagoon Reviews & Ratings
I visited early morning in September. It's a quiet place where neighbors sometimes walk or go jogging. The distant mountains reflected in the mirror-like water surface, and the morning glow dyed the eastern sky. It ’s a wonderful view. Water birds float on the surface of the lake and occasionally dive in the water. Apparently, they are picking fish for breakfast. The contrast of the birch tree is beautiful in the back of the colored grass nearby. Quiet, really quiet. This scenery, this time is hard to replace anything. Must be the best place in Anchorage.
Good place to catch the morning sun and a workout.
Beautiful place to go too. Do NOT SKIP OUT! I SAY AGAIN DO NOT SKIP ON THIS PLACE.
Great place for walking dog jogging and canoeing also has a playground for kids exercise equipment and vendor booth.
Nice place to ice skate in the winter.
