Angeles, officially the City of Angeles, is a city in the Central Luzon region of Philippines. A former home of Clark Air Base, this city was the largest American Air Force Base outside of the states. During the 1991 eruption of Mount Pinatubo, Angeles City was significantly affected. After a full clean up was done, the AF base remerged as the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ). And the subsequent formation of CSEZ brought in many developments in the areas of business, industry, aviation, and tourism. Today, the city has today been transformed into an ultra-modern global city.

1. Marvel at the grandeur of the Holy Rosary Church

The Holy Rosary Parish is one of the oldest churches in the city. Also, one of the best things to do in Angeles City, this church is fondly called "Pisambang Maragul" (or the "Big Church") by the locals. A national historical site, this church is located in the old Culiat town of Philippines. The foundation of this church was laid by the founding families of Angeles City and was led by Don Mariano V. Henson. By 1896 the construction of the church finished, and the first mass was held here even before its completion. A great place to stop by while touring the city, the outside of the church looks nothing short of spectacular.

Nayong Pilipino Clark is a themed museum that is dedicated to the Filipino history & culture. Often called the country’s cultural time machine, this museum houses many models and replicas of typical Filipino houses. A miniature version of the diverse architecture from parts of the country like the Cordillera Central, Ilocos, Tagalog, Bicol, Visayas, and Mindanao, this museum will let you tour the country without actually having to go around. 3. Pay a tribute to the Filipino army at the Lily Hill

Located off the Gil Puyat Avenue, Lily Hill is an unofficial historical museum and was once considered a lookout point for the Filipino army to monitor the Japanese army during World War II. The many of the WWII relics that you will find here are abandoned Japanese airplanes, granite statue of the Tibetan monk, and many other smaller monuments along with the Goddess of Peace Shrine. Located in the district of Santo Rosario Historic District, the museum building was constructed in 1922 and served as a town hall till 1998. Today, an important part of the city’s cultural activities, this museum hosts many exhibits, art classes, concerts, performances, and traditional celebrations. In 2012, the Museo Ning Angeles was declared “Important Cultural Property of the Philippines,” the first ever to get that kind of an honour. Inside the museum, the Balikdan section takes a look back at the city’s history, Culinarium section looks after country’s culinary history, and the Dioramic Scenes of Traditional Life features ten tableaus featuring many aspects of the city’s bygone era.
6. Walk through the Stotsenberg Park

Located 10 kilometres north of the city, the Stotsenberg Park is home to the first ever Philippine Artillery Regiment. Located inside the Clark Freeport Zone, this park has served as one of the country’s most prominent army bases. A walk through the park, and you will see many pillars that served as a silo for the repair material to the base runway. The park is big and clean, with a lot of historical significance. 7. Trek the Mount Pinatubo

Perfect for all the aviation geeks, this outdoor park is home to many air force jets, propeller planes and helicopters. These planes belong to the American Air Force from the time when they were based in Angeles City. You can get up close to these aircrafts as well. One interesting this to notice here is that these aircrafts have been repainted with the Philippine Air Force Logo but were actually never used by them. Apart from the aircrafts, you will see many small monuments that pay tribute to the American soldiers. Open 24 hours a day, this park has paved pathways for the fitness freaks, soccer fields for the ones who love the sport, and many other play areas for the kids to play at. A great place to jog/walk/run, or have a picnic with the entire family, the park is huge with a wide cover of greens. The big old trees at this park remind you of the city’s tryst with its history. One of the best things to do in Angeles City, the Fontana Leisure Parks & Casino is a waterpark and a casino. This park has also served as a convention centre for the year-long 2016 APEC Summit. Facilities at this park include a casino with a hundred slot and video machines and 49 gaming tables that offer games like baccarat, blackjack, and roulette. Apart from the casino, this centre also has a hotel, a hot spring, swimming pool and a water park. Known to host many events in the city, the Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino has one of the best nightlife scenes in the city.

An animatronic theme park, the Dinosaurs Island is located inside the Clark Nature Park Incorporated. With its various user-interactive exhibits and life-size structures, this park aims to teach the visitors about how the dinosaurs lived. The different zones of this park are the Dino Trail, Dino Fossils Museum, Dino World of Fun, Jurassic Jungle Safari, 7D Super Screen, and the Wonders of The World.
