This fortress-castle was built in the 12th century and was once home to the Bishops of Angers. After changing many hands the Castle was finally bought by Daniel Duclaux, a wealthy industrialist who had a passion for all things art. He filled the castle with great works of art from across the world: literature, furniture, paintings, tapestries, earthenware, silverware, rare manuscripts and so on. In 2002 the castle along with its valuable possessions was bequeathed to the city of Angers by Daniel Duclaux’s wife Mary Dickson-Duclaux. Over 900 items, the collection includes:

  • Italian & Spanish ceramic collection.
  • Medieval tapestries and Flanders.
  • Around 60 ancient books.

Musee - Chateau De Villeveque Reviews & Ratings

Google+
