Dating back to the 19th century, the First Congregational Church was designed in Gothic style with a beautiful multi-stone construction and impeccable beautiful interiors which even though need reparations, still manages to maintains its old-world charm. The wooden interiors with vaulted wooden beams, stained glass windows (although need repair) and its beautiful acoustic design that makes any music performance here, a lovely experience, has carved out a special place for the church in the city. The church’s location at the heart of the Michigan University adds to its charm. Try to visit the place during a music performance to hear the church organ and experience the ambiance of the place.

First Congregational Church Reviews & Ratings
If you haven't seen the Sunday School in this church, it is a sight to behold and so creative in its design! It looks like you are living during the time of Jesus....such a magical place, bound to inspire the imagination of each child who enters as to what it might have been like during the life of Jesus! At the beginning of the church service, children are invited to join one of the ministers during "Children's Circle" at the front of the church. After a brief bible lesson, they are asked to go with their teachers down to the wonderful Sunday School area. It is a great church to help your child gain a religious foundation, which will serve him/her for years to come. Helping others and having a "giving" heart are important lessons learned here...a special church indeed!
Wonderful church and very giving to the less fortunate
This is a great church, inside and out. They are welcoming, moral, inclusive, and determined to teach people how to live life in communion with Christ. I had a great time visiting here. There are many activities for the youth & also a beautiful sanctuary.
The guy was screeching about a guy on a boat and he also did not give me the cool water.
Warm, welcoming church for all ages. Traditional service at 10am in classic main sanctuary with 1800s origins.
