The Furstenberg Nature Area is linked to the Gallup park with a trail that extends for around 5 kilometers and along with the rest of the diverse parks around Ann Arbour, it forms a part of the mesmerizing green space of the city with scenic views all around, woodlands with trails and the Huron River which cuts this part of the area much like it cuts the Gallup Park. Many people kayak through the river while some love to simply find a quaint spot and hear the birds chirp or read a book underneath the shade of the trees around. Fitness freaks find the hiking trails an ideal place with nearly no traffic or crowd while the sheer tranquillity of the area is why it is perfect for a refreshing walk any time of the day. A walk along the river is recommended to spot ducks and swans while the wetlands with parries growing in beautiful colors, complete the park.

  • There is a lot of nature around as the name implies. There are awesome views of the river, marshlands, and two woodlands. One woodland is more open and has a lot of squirrels and chipmunks. The other is denser and has a awesome wooden walkway. If you take the Northern path you will get a really cool view of the marsh and can hear many frogs. You may see people in the south in kayaks or fly fishing in the water.

  • One of the best parks in A2! Great for kayaking running biking an hiking.

  • Great nature area, more private than Gallup Park next door.

  • Plenty of wildlife in and around the river to be watched. Lots of shade on the trails! As a burner this was a huge relief.

  • Love this place! Good fishing spot also.
