Besides flora and fauna, the Camargue Nature Park is also the preserver of history with its museum at Rousty Bridge. The Musee de la Camargue, as it is known, was created in 1979 with the aim to give a detailed background of the natural elements of Camargue Nature Park.

But that’s not all the museum offers today. The exhibits portray the early history of development of the region. The small museum perfectly captures the essence of Camargue and its life. With objects, videos, audios and photographs on display, the museum exhibits the relationship between man and nature with emphasis on the aquatic ecosystem. The museum is fun and interactive and also gives an insight into the various traditions the Gardians indulge in with their cattle.

Amidst the lovely greens of the nature park, the museum is a small refuge from the wild yet, it is a transport to the past. The Gardian collection of the museum is excellent and makes the museum worth a visit.

  • The last admission to the museum is 1 hour before the closing time.

  • Reduced ticket fair is €3
  • Free entry for under 18, journalists and teachers

  • A fascinating insight into life in the Camargue in olden days and the hardships endured in this beautiful yet desolate area. The museum is well laid out with lots of visual information.

  • Fascinating museum covering the social and physical history of the Camargue. There's enough info in English to make it interesting for the non French speaker.

  • The film: very boring; too much about disgusting bullfighting; the most interesting thing is about mosquitos
