A perfect place to explore the artistic side of Asheville the River Arts District in West Ashville is heaven for art lovers. Probably one of the few places where you can not only see the finished painting but also witness an artist in the midst of his process. You can interact with them and also ask them to make something especially for you. The gallery gives you a very personal access to all kinds of artwork including paintings, Glassware, ceramics and much more. They also have an annual exhibition every November where they open access to about 22 former factories which are now working studios and historical buildings nestled along the French Broad River.

River Arts District Reviews & Ratings

  • So many fabulous artists all in one area. A real gem for the city. So fun to explore.

  • One of my favorite spots I visited in Asheville! I loved wandering the different artists' spaces, and I really appreciated that all of the studios I was interested allowed dogs. It's a really cool neighborhood to walk around too.

  • Great Artsy area with lots of Artist Studios. Especially interesting was the one where they teach you how to blow glass. You leave with your own creation. Also, great local brewery with a great selection of different beers. Something for all tastes. Highly recommend visiting this area.

  • Fantastic arts scene. So much to see and choose from! Only wish our kids weren't there so we could have spent more time (and money!). The local artists were friendly and engaging. I'm glad this was part of our trip to Asheville.

  • Artsy Crafty studios and a few places to eat and drink. Hard to get to. Downtown Asheville is a better bet.
