The best way to learn about the history of Aspen is by paying the Holden Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum. This property was formerly a silver mill that was converted into a ranch that supported the family which worked on it. This ranch was donated by his descendants to the Aspen Historical Society which restored the property and reopened it as a museum. Set up for display here are the mining and farming artefacts used by workers in the days when Aspen was a mining town. you can still see some signs on this property that reflect the fact that it was once used for rearing animals and growing vegetables. This museum reflects Aspen’s mining history as well as the work culture of the townsfolk.
