This place is real, and I could feel it's life as I walked through it. A great example of civilisations past and how time surpasses all. The tacky horse out the front was a bit ordinary though. The horse from the movie in town was much more impressive.
Best ancient city ruins i ever visited.. lots of history and culture... trojan horse at the end of the trip was so majestic... beautiful... u can walk up the stairs into the wooden horse... all in all a memorable experience
Probably 1 of the favourite ancient cities in the world thanks to Homer. I actually had pretty low expectations going in as kept reading reviews saying there is almost nothing left. Well I disagree the ruins were a lot more substantial than I thought. I got there early in morning but the heat was still brutal so bring water and sunscreen in the summer. You can get here by local transport, get the bus from underneath bridge. The first bus was at 9:30am, wish it was a bit earlier. It takes about 60-90 minutes to walk around the circuit. The bus back was at noon. If you are in anyway interested it's worth a visit if you are in Canakkle.
Very interesting story of the city. I think they have audio guides there. Without a guide it could be boring.
I would like to go there to see the remains of Troy, but up to what I see on the pictures there is almost nothing to see. The ridiculous horse and a little of ruins. I love Homer’s story about Iliad, Troy, Agamemnon, Achilles, Odysseus (Ulysses), Hector, Priam etc. I’m very disappointed of what I see on the place of ancient Troy. May be I’m wrong?
