Spread across an area of 11.5 square kilometers, the Sugarloaf Provincial Park is an all-season park that opened in the year 1972 and since then has been offering various opportunities for recreation to all. The park encompasses an extensive network of trails that are suitable for running, walking, and jogging during the summer, spring and fall seasons. The park is also home to the alpine ski resort and thereby attracts a lot of people during the winters when it snows and offers activities like alpine snowboarding/skiing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sliding hill, skating, geocaching, and other activities. During the summer months, the ski lift is still operated by the resort so that the visitors can enjoy the panoramic vistas of the beautiful Restigouche River valley.
