About Polaris, Atlanta

Polaris, designated Alpha Ursae Minoris (α Ursae Minoris, abbreviated Alpha UMi, α UMi), commonly the North Star or Pole Star, is the brightest star in the constellation of Ursa Minor. It is very close to the north celestial pole, making it the current northern pole star. The revised Hipparcos parallax gives a distance to Polaris of about 433 light-years (133 parsecs), while calculations by other methods derive distances around 30% closer. Polaris is a multiple star, comprising the main star (Polaris Aa, a yellow supergiant) in orbit with a smaller companion (Polaris Ab); the pair in orbit with Polaris B (discovered in August 1779 by William Herschel). There were once thought to be two more distant components—Polaris C and Polaris D—but these have been shown not to be physically associated with the Polaris system.

  • Wow wow wow... I don't often write reviews but i can't go without thanking this amazing staff. My mom and step dad came to visit me in Atlanta for the first time and their anniversary was today so they chose Polaris to celebrate. I called the restaurant and let them know the occasion and asked if there was something special they could do for them. My mother called me later in tears to tell me about the lovely dessert special they brought to them. She said it was magical. She was also texting me the whole time to tell me how lovely the rest of the food was but i am just overwhelmed by how lovely the staff here was. They really went the extra mile to ensure that my mom had the perfect evening and i can't thank them enough. My boyfriend and i will definitely be dining there soon. Thank you all again, this truly meant a lot to us. :)

  • Celebrated a friend birthday and the food was yummy. He had Oscar Steak & I had the Sea Bass, the sides with my sea bass wasn't anything I had ever seen so I didn't bother. I gave it four ✨ because we did not get full, just satisfied. The experience, views, staff & atmosphere did met our expectations. Will be returning for other items on the new menu.

  • Wonderful as always! Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. Michael is a classly, old school server. High class! He recommended a dish I when I couldn't make up my mind and of course a wonderful small plate to start with of cheese sampler paired with wine. Also the Bee's Knees was a great way to start the night. I could not have made one suggestion to improve the experience. It was spot on perfect!

  • Wonderful atmosphere, was there during Dragon Con and the staff was accommodating to people in cosplay and with people who did not have reservations if they had table space. The food was delicious and the server (his name was Gary) recommended drink that would pair well with the food we ordered. We do plan on going to this restaurant again next we travel to Atlanta for the convention.

  • Had a wonderful experience here! I arrived quite late, worn out by heavy traffic but was able to relax here. Nice staff, great drinks and food, especially the Polaris blue dome! Not only does is look spectacular, it also tastes great. The amazing rotating view on Atlanta was the cherry on top of the cake, as is the nice elevator ride up to the restaurant!
