Fox TheatreCurrently Open [Closes at 03:00 pm]
It’s a marvel that this theatre survived all the years since 1929, when it was built. It was originally intended to be a Shrine, then utilized for a movie palace. The changing movie industry almost rendered the place obsolete, and developers were planning on tearing it down when locals, community and celebrity alike, raised a campaign to preserve this historical monument in the 1970’s.
Thus saved and then undergoing a massive restoration project, the eccentric and other worldly Fox Theatre looks more or less like it did in when it was first built. It’s the best live entertainment venue in Atlanta and a terrific film venue to boot.
That’s not all, you can hire the place out for weddings, events and other parties, and giving you company in all this revelry is the Mighty Mo, a 4000 pipe organ valued at half a million dollars. Islamic and Egyptian architectural influences are prominently evident, it internal ceiling is awash with stars, and few decorations are quite what they seem.

This was an amazing experience. We saw the Atlanta Ballet perform The Nutcracker. What a fabulous show! The seating is a bit tight; but very comfortable. Every staff member was polite and eager to assist. The building is nothing less than mesmerizing. I was blown away by the richly ornate design and the entire atmosphere. I highly recommend visiting this fantastic piece of history.
Such an amazing experience! The architecture and charm of this amazing building will keep you busy for hours! I nearly missed the entire concert because I was busy noticing all the incredible details put into the design of this beautiful place! MUST SEE! The concert was great! The sound was very nice, thick , and consistent. Cannot wait to go back!
Great venue. Easy to get to. Lots of dining options in the area. Easily a 4-4.5 star rating if they ever decide to bring their ticket reservation/purchasing into the 21st century. The phone experience is an exercise in patience. Even thinking about the online experience spikes my blood pressure. The good news is that once you have your tickets, you can relax and enjoy a beautiful venue with great sound (assuming that you find the seats similar to what you think you booked...I challenge anyone on a phone to find a readable seating chart ).
The Fox Theatre overall is a beautiful building. The lines can be long when first entering, but they get you in quickly. I am glad they do not have restrictions on purses like big venues. I have been many times and have sat all over. You can pretty much see in any seat. If you sit up top, be prepared to walk up many stairs! I am in shape, but going all the way to the top section was a workout, so going back to grab a drink or snack is a pain. They offer a variety of alcohol like wine, liquor, and beer. They also offer snacks, but you should eat before because they only have popcorn, chips, pretzels, or little things like that. Parking is annoying, depending on when you go. There is a lot next to the building, but you need to purchase a pass. I always park around the corner and walk. I recommend visiting The Fox if you have never been.
This is a great venue. Absolutely beautiful and historic. The theater is awesome and the ballrooms upstairs are just as nice and spectacular. I would always prefer to see any performing arts at the Fox and have enjoyed many shows and events at this true Gem of Atlanta. If you're in town, I highly recommend finding a reason to visit.
